The University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) is committed to fostering a corporate culture of ethical behavior and integrity in all matters related to compliance with the laws and regulations that govern the delivery of health care.  This aspiration is central to supporting patient care, research, and teaching at the University of Chicago Medical Center. 

 

The University of Chicago Medical Center established an Office of Medical Center Compliance (OMCC) dedicated to serving the patients, employees, and vendors of the Medical Center by fostering a corporate culture of ethical behavior and integrity.  The OMCC administers a Health Care Integrity Program that places particular emphasis on compliance with billing, coding, and documentation requirements and relationships with industry.  Additionally, the OMCC, through the HIPAA Program Office, supports compliance with the privacy and security standards set forth in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

 

The OMCC provides information and tools to support employees, faculty, and students in their efforts to adhere to the Health Care Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct principles which include the following:
